After a rough start, the Ragin Cajuns were able to take down Southeastern Louisiana (26-11) on Sunday by the score of 5-4.
Avans got things going for the Lions in the bottom of the first with a two-run single. Crites made it 3-0 off of a solo shot to left center field in the bottom of the fifth.
The Cajuns responded in the top of the sixth with Kyle Clement starting a five run inning with an RBI single. The runs kept coming in with Stefan Trosclair hitting a run in off a single. Antchak tied it up with a groundout that allowed Clement to score. The Cajuns got the lead with an RBI double by Brenn Conrad and extended it to 5-3 with an RBI double by Nick Thurman.
The Lions tried to rally in the seventh when Avans hit a sac fly in the bottom of the seventh that scored Midyett to make it a one-run deficit. But that was all the Lions could muster as Dylan Moore rendered the Lions hitless in three innings of work to record his ninth save of the season.
Nick Lee improved to 6-1 on the year allowing three runs off of seven hits, walking one, and striking out five batters in five innings of work.
The Cajuns (24-12) will enjoy a five game homestand starting on Tuesday against Nicholls State with first pitch set for 6 pm.
