The mentality for the Louisiana Ragin Cajuns since the Sun Belt Tournament has been survive and advance. That continued on Friday afternoon with a 3-2 win over Southeast Missouri to move into the winner’s bracket of the Oxford Regionals.
How It Happened:
Southeast Missouri got on the board with a solo shot in the third by Mykaela Arellanes, but that lead didn’t last long when Alissa Dalton hit a two-out, two-run single up the middle gave the Cajuns a 2-1 lead.
The Redhawks responded in the top of the fifth with an RBI triple courtesy of Rachel Anderson, tying things up at two runs apiece. Lexie Comeaux closed things out for the Cajuns in the bottom of the sixth with an RBI single.
Big Number: 7
The Cajuns offense took a little while to get cooking, but seven hits for them was absolutely huge to open up the Oxford Regional.
Player of the Game: Summer Ellyson
Ellyson just continues to be the real MVP for this team, fanning 13 batters on the afternoon en route to her 38th win of the season.
Next Up: Saturday vs Winner of Ole Miss-Chattanooga
