The New Orleans Saints will have an interesting decision to make on Sunday when it comes to Drew Brees and if he plays against the Arizona Cardinals.
When asked if he hopes to suit up on Sunday, Brees grinned and answered, “That’s the plan. We’ll see.” It’s crazy to think that he would be ready to go so soon after injuring his thumb early in a week two loss to the Los Angeles Rams.
The veteran quarterback was limited in practice on Wednesday, the first practice he was able to participate in practice in almost two months.
Saints coach Sean Payton was not as forthcoming in discussing Brees’ status against the Cardinals. He acknowledged that there’s an opportunity for Brees to play this Sunday, but it’s possible he ends up being a game-time decision after going through a week of practices and a final, critical pregame warmup session.
It puts the Saints in an interesting position considering how Teddy Bridgewater has been performing, especially in last Sunday’s 36-25 win over the Chicago Bears.
