Duplantis Pushes Tigers Past Kentucky to Split Doubleheader

While Kentucky (27-13, 11-6 SEC) was still showing signs of power early on in the second game of the doubleheader, there wasn’t nearly enough power to keep LSU (27-13, 10-7 SEC) away as the Tigers split the twinbill by the score of 4-3.

Kole Cottan put the Wildcats on the board with a solo shot in the bottom of the second. Later in the inning, Alex Lange walked Evan White with the bases loaded to make it 2-0.

Zach Reks made it 3-0 in the fourth with an RBI double. LSU would get on the board in the top of the fifth when Cole Freeman got plunked with the bases loaded.

Later in the inning Nick Coomes tied things up with a two-run single through the left side that scored Antoine Duplantis and Cole Freeman.

The game remained knotted up at three apiece until the eighth when Duplantis hit an RBI single to right field and that was the big factor for the Tigers to even the series up at one game a piece.

Zach Hess improved to 4-0 on the season allowing only one hit in three and a third innings of work.

The Tigers will look to win the rubber match on Sunday with first pitch set for 1 pm.
