Mere hours from the deadline for players to withdraw their name from the 2019 NBA Draft, the fourth player from LSU is coming back for the 2019-20 season.
As first reported by Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports, Emmitt Williams will rejoin fellow teammates Javonte Smart, Marlon Taylor, and Skylar Mays for next season. The star forward later confirmed it with an Instagram post that also mentioned he would rock the number five for the Tigers going forward.
Williams averaged seven points per game, with a new LSU freshman record in field goal percentage: 61.4 percent. He played in all 34 games, starting in eight of them, averaging 19.8 minutes per contest. He also averaged 5.4 rebounds per game and had 22 blocks on the season.
This means that Naz Reid and Tremont Waters will be ineligible to return to LSU, but both have been projected to be second-round picks in a draft class that features some incredible talents like Zion Williamson and Ja Morant.
