LSU junior right-hander Anthony Eyanson was named the SEC Co-Pitcher of the Week by the league office on Monday for his complete game on the road at Texas A&M on Saturday.
Eyanson shared the honor with Zach Root of Arkansas.
A product of Lakewood, CA, Eyanson was amazing on Saturday night, throwing a complete-game three-hitter in a 2-1 win over the Aggies. He allowed just one run on three hits in 9.0 innings with one walk and 14 strikeouts. Only one A&M base runner made it past second on the night.
He retired the first nine Texas A&M batters in order, not allowing a hit until the fifth inning, and retired seven of the final eight Aggies to complete the outing. He threw a total of 112 pitches.
Eyanson, the UC San Diego transfer, is 7-2 this season with a 3.16 ERA in 68.1 innings, recording 26 walks and 105 strikeouts for the third-ranked team in the country, who returns home this weekend to host a surging Arkansas squad.
