The postseason accolades keep rolling in JaKeenan Gant. The senior was named a finalist for the Lou Henson National Player of the Year Award on Wednesday by CollegeInsider.com.
Gant is coming off of a stellar 2018-19 season that saw him lead the league in both rebounds (9.2) and blocked shots (2.2) and is one of three Sun Belt Conference players on the 36-player list, joining Georgia State’s D’Marcus Simonds and Georgia Southern’s Tookie Brown.
The star forward also became the 48th player in school history to reach the 1,000-point scoring mark and the 10th to do so in a two-year span.
The Lou Henson Award is presented annually to the nation’s top mid-major player in Division I College Basketball will be presented at the College Insider Awards in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
