While the name George Johnson may not mean much to Saints fans now, but he could be a key player when it comes to depth at the defensive end position.
The 30-year old signed a one-year, veteran minimum deal with the Saints on Wednesday. Johnson filled in for an injured Alex Okafor late in the season and had 2.5 sacks in the final three games of the regular season.
Looking deeper into the numbers, he wound up playing 59 percent of the defensive snaps in Week 16 which increased to 66 percent in Week 17.
