Tavion Faulk embraces his leadership role with the Carencro Golden Bears.
Faulk experienced changes within the Carencro High football program, but it’s all led to a successful 2020 season.
The Golden Bears are 8-1 this season. They advanced to the second round of the playoffs after Woodlawn-Shreveport forfeited.
Faulk spoke about the type of season it has been for the team, what he learned from his legendary uncle Kevin Faulk and much more.
Question: How would you describe this season for the Carencro Golden Bears?
Answer: The season has been uplifting for Carencro as a player myself. It has shown how good we are. The teams we’ve beaten have been reflective of the program. The loss to STM was still a hard-fought game.
Q: What’s the mindset for the Golden Bears for the upcoming matchup and the playoffs overall?
A: Our main focus right now is DeRidder. Our bigger focus is the Dome. We definitely take it week by week.
Q: What’s your experience with Carencro been like?
A: I have definitely progressed over the years. We changed the offense from my freshman to sophomore season. Changing offense was difficult but I learned quickly.
Q: You play a lot of positions for Carencro. So what position comes natural to you?
A: There’s no specific position that comes natural to me. I’m a natural-born athlete.
Q: Was there one position that required the most adjustment for you?
A: Out of all of them, I would say defensive back. There’s more technique to it. You can’t be as aggressive as you want to me or you’ll get exposed.
Q: You also played basketball and I see you play baseball. What’s one thing you take away from other sports that applies to football?
A: Leadership. When you’re down you can’t bring other people down. You have to stay up no matter how bad you’re playing. You still have to give confidence to your teammates and be their captain no matter what’s going on.
Q: Is there any advice Kevin Faulk has given you about football that has stuck with you the most?
A: Growing up that’s the person I would watch the most. Everything i do now from offense to defense to returning the ball all came from him.
Q: If people don’t know who Tavion Faulk is then what would you tell people?
A: Well I’m just a regular guy. There’s nothing much to me.
Q: Any hobbies?
A: I like to draw a little bit. I used to draw like cars and shoes.
