The calendar has flipped to May and it seems like the LSU Tigers have flipped the script with a series win over 4th-ranked Arkansas. It didn’t look great in the series opener, but they showed a lot of grit en route to taking two of three against the Razorbacks.
With that in mind, let’s take a look at the series between LSU and Arkansas.
Offense: B-
It was a positive weekend for the Tigers at the plate, batting .322 as a team with six extra base hits. If not for the pitching staff coming undone in the later innings on Friday, they could have had a big weekend and swept the Razorbacks in the Box.
Infield Defense: C-
The infield had some issues in the series finale, namely when a ball went through Austin Bain’s legs in the seventh and it caused the Razorbacks to make it a lot more competitive of a ballgame. Outside of that, the infield had a solid weekend.
Outfield Defense: C+
Another ho-hum weekend for the Tigers outfield leads to them getting a passing grade..
Weekend Rotation: D+
Arkansas’ offense teed off on the starting pitchers for LSU, hitting a total of five home runs on the weekend. It really put a damper on a weekend rotation that needed to bounce back after the last couple of weeks.
Bullpen: C-
The bullpen did a little bit better allowing only six runs off of nine hits and some of that can be attributed to some of the errors on Sunday. Overall, the bullpen did it’s job and didn’t let it go into a downward spiral.
Overall Grade: C-
