The road trip to College Station definitely didn’t end the way that LSU wanted it, losing the rubber match 3-1 on Saturday after a lopsided loss on Friday to Texas A&M. With that in mind, let’s take a look back at the weekend that was.
Offense: D-
The Tigers offense looked almost lethargic in College Station over the weekend. Outside of one inning on Thursday, they couldn’t quite get out of first gear batting .193 over the weekend and recording seven runs isn’t going to get the job done.
It’s just not a good look for the Tigers when it started to look like they’d turn things around.
Infield Defense: C-
It seems like the Tigers are bound to commit an error once a night. The infield continued to have some slip-ups, but they didn’t change the overall outcome and that bumps up the grade a little more.
Outfield Defense: D+
While the infield had more errors, the lone one for the outfield wound up causing the ballgame to go off the rails. That alone really hurt the Tigers chances of fighting back on Friday.
Weekend Rotation: D
The weekend rotation was good outside of the performance of Caleb Gilbert. The fact that he got run before the end of the first inning really affected my final grade for the rotation.
Bullpen: C-
The bullpen’s streak of shutting down offenses was stymied, but they were still able to put together some respectable appearances.
Overall Grade: D
