The Houston Astros got one of the biggest deals done at the buzzer on Wednesday afternoon, trading some of their top prospects for the Arizona Diamondbacks’ Zack Greinke.
The 35-year-old has had a solid season so far with the D-Backs, putting up a 10-7 record with a 2.87 ERA. Prior to his start today, he led the National League in WHIP (0.94), trailing only Justin Verlander (0.81) for the Major League lead.
The Astros sent over right-handers Corbin Martin and right-hander J.B. Bukauskas along with first baseman Seth Beer and infielder Josh Rojas to Arizona to complete the deal.
This was the final move in what was a busy day for the Astros organization with the team also trading for pitchers Aaron Sanchez and Joe Biagini from the Toronto Blue Jays and getting back Martin Maldonado from the Chicago Cubs..
