The Astros announced their initial 60-man player pool ahead of Sunday’s 4 p.m. ET deadline for all clubs to list the group of players who will be able to play for them this season.
Houston’s player pool is a group of 56, including 30 pitchers and 26 position players. The Astros’ player pool is scheduled to report to camp this week, but will be split at two locations. The Astros will announce camp report dates, workout groups, and workout times in the coming days.
Each team’s player pool can change throughout the season, with clubs able to add and subtract from the group through standard transactions, i.e. waiver claims, free-agent signings, releases and trades. A club’s player pool can consist of up to 60 players but cannot exceed that number.
