This is not news the Louisiana Ragin Cajuns wanted to get this summer.

Jordan Brown, the 2022 Lou Henson Award winner for best mid-major player, has transferred to Memphis and head coach Penny Hardaway.

Brown entered the portal on June 9 for the third time in his college career, after starting at Nevada and then transferring to Arizona before coming to Lafayette.

Brown led Louisiana to its first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2014 by capturing the Sun Belt Tournament title in Pensacola in March. The Cajuns battled Tennessee in a 3/14 matchup in the first round of March Madness, where Louisiana fell to the Volunteers 58-55.

Brown, the son of former Cajuns star Dion Brown, scored 16 points against Tennessee to lead Louisiana in scoring, another strong performance that capped off a season where the 6’11” forward averaged 19.3 points and 8.6 rebounds per game.

Now, head coach Bob Marlin and his staff will have to look in the transfer portal again to replace the production lost with Brown heading to the AAC to play for Memphis.
