You’ve got to give credit to the Little Rock Trojans (21-17, 10-7 Sun Belt). After being held scoreless for two straight ballgames, they didn’t give up in the series finale against the Louisiana Ragin Cajuns (22-19, 10-8 Sun Belt) and were able to come away with a 9-7 victory in 11 innings.
How It Happened
The Cajuns wasted little time getting out in front with Hunter Kasuls getting things going with an RBI single out to center field. Kennon Fontenot followed things up with a groundout to second to get Hayden Cantrelle across.
Daniel Lahare made it 3-0 in the bottom of the second with a single up the middle to score Tyler Stover. However, the Trojans got on the board for the first time in the series, allowing an RBI single by Chase Coker and a double down the left field line by Marcus Ragan in the 3rd to make it 3-2.
Troy Alexander tied it up for Little Rock in the fourth when he hit a single up the middle. Things started to turn things around in the sixth for the Cajuns when the wind carried a two-out hit from Daniel Lahare over the left field wall to make it 4-3.
It didn’t last long though for Louisiana as Coker followed suit with a home run of his own in the seventh out to left field to knot things up at four runs apiece. The Cajuns quickly responded with a pair of runs highlighted by an RBI single from Kennon Fontenot.
Little Rock responded in the ninth with a pair of runs, including an RBI double from Danny Mitchell to even things up at six to send it to extra innings. After a couple of well hit balls, Ragan broke the stalemate with an RBI single out to center field. Mitchell followed things up with a single of his own to score Coker and Matt Merino closed out the scoring in the 11th for the Trojans with a groundout to score Ragan.
The Cajuns tried to turn things around late with a one-out triple from Daniel Lahare, but they were only able to get one run out of it and came up short after Hayden Cantrelle struck out swinging and Kasuls lining out.
Nick Lee dropped to 1-4 on the season allowing five runs off of eight hits and struck out three in four innings of work.
