It’s not often you see a bad outing from Jared Poche. Friday night was one of those games as the Ole Miss Rebels (22-13, 7-7 SEC) evened up the series with a 4-1 win against LSU (24-12, 8-6 SEC) thanks to the long ball.
Tate Blackman gave the Rebels the early edge with a leadoff solo shot to left field in the first.
The Tigers did respond in the bottom of the second with an RBI single from Josh Smith to tie things up. That stalemate would last until the top of the fourth when Colby Bortles showed off his strength with a deep solo shot. Two batters later Nick Fortes followed suit with a solo shot to make it 3-1.
The final run seemed fitting as Blackman hit his second home run of the game.
Jared Poche dropped to 6-2 on the year allowing four runs off of four hits, walked one, and struck out nine in seven innings of work.
The Tigers will look to take the rubber match on Saturday with first pitch scheduled for 2 PM.
