Louisiana Advances to Championship Saturday Behind Ellyson Gem

Posted by clintdomingue on May 11, 2018 in Blogs, Latest News

The Louisiana Ragin Cajuns softball team is now one step closer towards winning another Sun Belt Conference championship after coming away with a 1-0 win on Friday afternoon against the top-seeded Texas State thanks in large part to a no-hitter from Summer Ellyson.

How It Happened

There were only two hits on the afternoon and one them was a sac bunt by Kara Gremillion that got Kelli Martinez across home plate.

Ellyson improved to 21-7 on the season with a complete game no-hitter, walked one and struck out six on the afternoon.

Big Number: 0

No runs, no hits, no errors for the Cajuns and if not for a two-out walk in the third it was huge to see a performance like that from her.

Player of the Game: Summer Ellyson

If she doesn’t earn Most Outstanding Player for the tournament, I don’t know what else she has to do with a no-hitter to get her 21st win of the season.

Next Up: Championship Saturday; First Pitch 1 p.m.
