The bats for the Louisiana Ragin Cajuns (1-3) continued to be quiet through the lineup on Wednesday night in a 5-2 loss against the Lions of Southeastern Louisiana (4-1).
While the Cajuns only had three hits on the evening, Hayden Cantrelle got them on the board in the top of the first with a solo shot out to left field. However, the Lions responded with a ground-rule double by Kyle Schimpf in the bottom of the first to even things up.
Louisiana took the lead back in the fourth inning with an RBI double down the left field line from O’Neal Lochridge. However, the Lions responded in the bottom frame with an RBI single courtesy of Bryce Steckler to tie things up.
Southeastern Louisiana got out in front in the bottom of the sixth with a two-run bomb out to left field from Daniel Wasinger and that wound up being the deciding factor on Wednesday night.
Austin Perrin (0-1) was credited with the loss, allowing two runs off of two hits and struck out two on the evening in two innings of work.
The Cajuns will start their home slate on Friday with a three-game set against Wright State (0-3) with first pitch set for 6:30 pm.
