Louisiana Dominated by UT Arlington

Posted by clintdomingue on January 23, 2017 in Latest News

Cajuns

The Louisiana Ragin Cajuns (13-7, 3-4 SBC) seemed to have a chance to take down UT Arlington (15-5, 5-2 SBC), but the Mavs dominated the second half on Monday night in a 108-71 loss on the road.

The Mavs started out strong as they got out to a 15-5 lead with 14:00 left in the first half. The Cajuns were able to go on a 7-0 run to get it down to four points, but just as they were getting hot UT Arlington took over for the rest of the half and headed into the locker room with a 40-31 lead.

It was all UT Arlington in the second half that saw the Mavs get out to a 20 point lead with 16:20 left in regulation. The lead would continue to rise as the game progressed and was never let go by UT Arlington as they continue to dominate the Sun Belt Conference.

The Ragin Cajuns will return to the friendly confines of the Cajundome on Saturday when they take on Arkansas Little Rock (12-8, 3-4 SBC) with tipoff set for 7:15 pm.

By the Numbers:

23: Number of points off of turnovers for UT Arlington. They were able to capitalize on every opportunity given to them by the Cajuns as they only had 13 turnovers.

20: Number of second chance points for the Mavs. This was another aspect of the game where they were able to win as they had 17 offensive boards on the night and got 20 points out of it.

32: Cajuns field goal percentage in the loss. Just as it seemed that the Ragin Cajuns were able to get back into their shooting ways, UT Arlington’s defense shut them down throughout the game.
