Louisiana Beats LA Tech For 8th Win in a Row

Posted by clintdomingue on December 10, 2016 in Latest News

Cajuns

The Louisiana Ragin Cajuns started off strong, tapered off late but still held on to beat Louisiana Tech for their eighth straight win.

The Cajuns got out of the gate with a big 11-2 run and continued to pour it on throughout the first half. The dominance continued with the Cajuns being up by as much as 20 with 10 minutes left, but the Bulldogs were able to fight back and get it to within 9 points, but a late three by Justin Miller brought it back to double digits and took a 43-31 into the locker room

The Bulldogs took the momentum they had at the end of the first half and got the lead back down to single digits halfway through the second thanks to Jacobi Boykins getting hot from beyond the arc. However, the Cajuns were able to respond with PJ Hardy also getting hot from three point range. It got as close as three points with under a minute to go, but the Cajuns were able to hold on thanks to key free throws in the closing seconds.

The Cajuns (8-2) will hit the road to take on the Georgia Bulldogs (5-3) with tipoff scheduled for 5 pm.

By the Numbers:

7: Number of three pointers that Boykins made in a losing effort. All seven were in the second half.

20: Number of fast break points for the Cajuns. The Cajuns dominated at this stat with Louisiana Tech only making six points off of the break.

31: Number of points that the Cajuns got off of turnovers. It was helped by the Bulldogs committing 21 turnovers on the night and 14 of them being steals by the Cajuns.
