When the Louisiana Ragin Cajuns (10-5, 1-1 Sun Belt) heads to the GSU Sports Arena in Atlanta, Georgia it’s usually a rough night. Things weren’t any different with Georgia State (11-4, 2-0 Sun Belt) having a very efficient performance from three-point range en route to an 89-76 win for the Panthers.
How It Happened:
The first half was very much a tug of war with the Cajuns keeping it within five points throughout and the Cajuns were able to take a two-point lead late in the first half. However, the Panthers were able to take a three point lead off of a late jumper by Malik Benlevi.
Georgia State wasted very little time getting themselves out in front with a 7-0 run 1:32 into the second quarter to take a double digit lead. From that point on, the Cajuns were merely trying to keep up with the Panthers red-hot shooting from three-point range, going 7-of-10. Louisiana was able to get within single digits with another big performance from JaKeenan Gant, but it wasn’t enough as the Panthers once again pulled away and never looked back.
Big Number: 25.8%
The Cajuns had yet another poor night from three-point range, shooting 25.8% from beyond the arc. It was even more pitiful with the Cajuns shooting an abysmal 3-of-16.
Player of the Game: JaKeenan Gant
Gant isn’t wasting a moment after putting up 45 points against Little Rock and he racked up an impressive 36 points and going 14-21 from the field. He also had another 11 boards on the night. The senior continues to impress.
