Things did not go the Louisiana Ragin Cajuns (9-12, 1-3 Sun Belt) way on Friday night, losing in a big way to the Troy Trojans (14-7, 2-2 Sun Belt) by the score of 6-2.
How It Happened
The Cajuns got out to an early lead after an RBI single from Tyler Stover in the bottom of the second, but the Trojans responded in the third with a two-out, two-run single from Cole Prestegard.
Kennon Fontenot tied things up in the bottom of the fourth with a solo shot out to right field, but Troy responded once again with a two-run fifth inning highlighted by an RBI double down the left field line from Joey Denison, making it 4-2.
Troy closed the door in the eighth with another two-run inning capped off by a bases-loaded walk.
Nick Lee dropped to 1-2 on the season allowing four runs off of four hits in four and a third innings of work. Andrew Crane improved to 3-2 with a complete game performance, allowing two runs off of five hits, walked two, and struck out five.
Big Number: 5
While the Cajuns seemed to be turning things around offensively, the bats cooled down in Russo Park, only managing to get five hits across. Only Tyler Stover had a multi-hit game with two on the evening.
That’s Gotta Hurt!
The Cajuns lost one of their better hitters at this point of the season in Daniel Lahare when he landed awkwardly on a sliding catch in the seventh inning that led to a double for Rigsby Mosley. According to Tony Robichaux, it’s a hyper-extended elbow that the extent of the injury is currently unknown and seems very unlikely that he will be able to play for the rest of this weekend series against Troy.
