The 15th-ranked LSU Tigers needed to start off the penultimate week of the regular season on the right foot, but the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs had other ideas cruising to a 12-1 win on Tuesday night.
How It Happened:
The Bulldogs wasted very little time getting things done with Tanner Huddleston reaching on an error and that resulted in Hunter Wells getting across home plate. Later in the inning, an RBI single from Parker Bates put them up 2-0.
It continued into the third inning with another two runs coming across off of a pair of singles by Huddleston and Manny Garcia. The Bulldogs extended their lead in the middle innings with the big highlight being a solo shot out to left field from Bates in the fifth. The Tigers finally got on the board in the bottom of the seventh with an RBI single from Cabrera, but Louisiana Tech slammed the door shut in the eighth with a four-run inning that jumpstarted by a two-run double by Mason Mallard.
Big Number: 17
The Bulldogs offense struck early and often, racking up 17 hits which is the most they’ve allowed in a nine-inning game since April 18th when they lost 16-9 to the Florida Gators.
Player of the Game: Tanner Huddleston
Huddleston’s stat line has been solid all season long, but his performance on Tuesday night was a big highlight, going three-of-six with four RBIs on the night.
