Arena Football is coming back to the Hub City.
The Louisiana Voodoo, the newest franchise in the AFL who was originally scheduled to play in Lake Charles, will be playing in Lafayette at Blackham Coliseum beginning next Saturday against the Philadelphia Soul, according to team officials.
Former Saints wide receiver, “The Beerman” Michael Lewis and Ragin Cajuns Hall of Famer and AFL star Damon Mason are joining the coaching staff for the new squad in 2024.
The switch was done due to issues with the Lake Charles Event Center’s management group, ASM. Turf and netting installation is set to begin at Blackham Coliseum immediately.
Four of the team’s games are set to be broadcast on the NFL Network in the 2024 season.
This is a developing story, so stay tuned to ESPN Southwest Louisiana’s socials and website for more information.
