All good things must come to an end and the Louisiana Ragin Cajuns (20-4, 10-1 Sun Belt) learned that the hard way on Thursday night against Georgia State (19-6, 10-2 Sun Belt). They were outplayed in almost every aspect and the Cajuns 10 game win streak was snapped by the Panthers 106-92.
The Cajuns started out slow, but were able to take a 12-11 lead with 14:11 left in the first half thanks to a three-pointer from Malik Marquetti. However, that didn’t last long as the Panthers responded with a 6-0 run. That momentum shift was enough to help Georgia State make it 51-41 at the break.
The second half saw the Panthers begin to pull away early, making it a 12-point ballgame with 12:01 left in regulation. Jeff Thomas put the final nail in the coffin with a three-pointer with 2:34 left to make it 99-83.
The Cajuns will look to bounce back on Saturday when they take on Georgia Southern (16-9, 7-5 Sun Belt) with tipoff set for 4 pm.
