Alabama (15-28, 2-19 SEC) may be one of the worst teams in the SEC, but they gave LSU (30-15, 13-8 SEC) one heck of a fight as they got it extras on Saturday.
Greg Deichmann started things off in the first with a two-run blast to right field. However, the Tide tied it up in the bottom frame with a sac fly from Chandler Taylor followed by an RBI double from Cody Henry.
Alabama got out in front of LSU in the bottom of the fourth with Henry scoring after Sam Finnerty grounded into a double play. The Tigers evened it up at three apiece with an RBI single up the middle from Jordan Romero in the seventh.
It remained tied into the 11th inning with Michael Papierski hitting what became the game winner.
Hunter Newman got his first win of the season allowing only one hit in two innings of work.
LSU will have an extended break before returning to action in the friendly confines of South Carolina (25-16, 10-10 SEC) on Friday May 5th with first pitch set for 7 pm.
