Georgia (8-13, 3-0 SEC) went toe to toe with LSU (16-5, 3-0 SEC) on Sunday afternoon, and came very close to winning the game, but came up just short as the Tigers won 7-6.

Greg Deichmann got them on the board in the bottom of the third with an RBI single to score Kramer Robertson. The Bulldogs responded with a two run shot in the fifth inning from Will Proctor, his third one of the season.

LSU would respond in the bottom of the fifth when the Tigers got a pair of bases-loaded walks to take the lead back. Beau Jordan would wrap up the inning with an RBI single to make it 4-2. However, Georgia would fire back with an RBI single in the sixth from Aaron Schunk.

Deichmann would strike again with a sac fly in the bottom of the sixth to push LSU’s lead back up to two.

With LSU up 7-4 heading into the 9th inning, Georgia got within one run after an RBI double from Tucker Maxwell and a groundout from Shepherd. However, with the tying run 90 feet from home, Michael Curry would strike out swinging to give LSU the series sweep.

Eric Walker improved to 3-0 allowing three runs off of five hits and struck out eight in six innings of work.

LSU stay in Alex Box when they take on Southeastern Louisiana (14-4) on Wednesday with first pitch set for 6:30 pm.
