The opening weekend ended with some fireworks as the LSU Tigers (3-0) dominated Air Force (2-2) by the score of 10-3.
The Falcons got on the board first with a pair of runs in the top of the fourth highlighted by Tyler Zabojinik hitting an RBI single to center field.
That lead wouldn’t last long as the Tigers fired back with a two-run shot from Greg Deichmann, his second of the season. Josh Smith would follow it up later in the inning with a three run blast to right field to take a 5-2 lead. Cole Freeman would show off his speed scoring from second base on a wild pitch.
Air Force responded in the sixth with a solo shot from Tyler Jones to cut the lead down to three runs. LSU responded in the bottom of the sixth with Freeman hitting an RBI single to left field, increasing their lead.
The Tigers would score yet again in the bottom of the seventh with an RBI single from Jake Slaughter and wrap things up with a two run double from Kramer Robertson.
Freshman Eric Walker started off his career as a Tiger with a win allowing one earned run, two hits, and six strikes in five innings of work.
The Tigers will next play the UNO Privateers (3-0) on Tuesday with first pitch set for 6:30 pm.
