It may not have been pretty, but the LSU Tigers (14-5, 1-0 SEC) got conference play started off right with a 22-9 victory over Georgia (8-11, 0-1 SEC).

The Bulldogs got off on the right foot with a four run inning in the top of the first which was highlighted by Will Campbell sending one out to left field to score three runs. The Tigers responded with two runs in the bottom half of the inning to cut away at the lead.

The Tigers took the lead in the top of the second with four runs highlighted by an RBI single from Antoine Duplantis. His night was spectacular as he set an LSU single-game record with six hits and seven RBIs on the night.

LSU continued to build their lead in the third with a pair of runs coming from Freeman and Duplantis. However, the Bulldogs weren’t going away as they cut the lead down to one run with a three run inning.

The Tigers were able to put Georgia away with four runs in the fifth and seven in the sixth.

Austin Bain got his first win of the season allowing one run off four hits, walked two, and struck out three in two and two-thirds of an inning of work.

LSU will look to clinch the series tomorrow with first pitch set for 6:30 pm.
