LSU (12-8, 3-5 SEC) head coach Will Wade put it simply a big loss to Auburn (19-2, 7-1 SEC) on Saturday afternoon. “We got whipped every way you can get whipped.” Wade said following a 95-70 loss in Auburn Arena.
It was clear almost from the outset that Auburn was the superior team as they got on in front with an 18-0 run early in the first half thanks to some solid shooting from the three-point line. The dominance at home by Bruce Pearl’s Tigers was clear as they went into the break up by 19 points.
The second half saw Auburn continue to build a gap between themselves and LSU, getting out to a 31 point lead with 6:06 left in the ballgame. LSU showed some fight in the final moments, but it was too little too late as the lead was too insurmountable.
LSU will return to action on Wednesday when they take on 22nd ranked Tennessee (15-5, 5-3 SEC) with tipoff set for 5:30 pm.
