The LSU Tigers and the Texas A&M Aggies (16-2, 6-0 SEC) went back and forth throughout the first half, but LSU couldn’t keep up and the Aggies cruised to a 71-57 win.
The Tigers and the Aggies were tied up throughout the first half, but both teams still had decent runs at certain points. LSU went up by as much six points midway through the opening half, and Texas A&M responded with a 12-3 run late to go up by six, but the Tigers kept it within four points at the end of the half to make it 38-34 heading into the locker room.
LSU bounced back to open the second half taking a one point lead early, but that was all that the Tigers were able to do as they went 9-for-28 from the field in the second half. That scoring drought by the Tigers was enough for Texas A&M to really pull away and remain undefeated in SEC play.
Tim Quarterman led the Tigers with 12 points, one board, and two assist. Craig Victor and Ben Simmons weren’t far behind with 10 points each.
Jalen Jones led Texas A&M with 20 points, six boards, one block, and one steal on the night.
The Tigers (11-7, 4-2 SEC) will travel over to Tuscaloosa on Saturday to take on Alabama (10-6, 1-3 SEC) with tipoff set for 1 pm.
