LSU Strikes Early and Often In Win Over Nicholls

Posted by clintdomingue on March 2, 2016 in Featured

The LSU Tigers struck early on often on the way to a 9-4 win over Nicholls (4-6).

Bryce Jordan got the scoring going for the Tigers in the top of the first with a two-run double. This was followed up by Greg Deichmann hitting a sac fly to score Beau Jordan to make it 3-0.

But the Colonels responded in the bottom of the first with a hit by Kyle Reese that sent home Ethan Valdez to cut the Tigers lead to 3-1.

LSU put more of a gap between themselves and Nicholls with a three run fourth inning that ended with a sac fly from Bryce Jordan to make it 6-1. They proceeded to put the game out of reach in the fifth with a two run inning that had a pair of triples by Deichmann and Fraley, respectively.

The Colonels tried to rally in the final innings, but were only able to get three more runs on the night in a losing effort.

Alden Cartwright improved to 2-0 on the season throwing three shutout innings, allowing only three hits, walking one, and striking out three in relief.

The Tigers (6-2) return to the Box for a three game series against Fordham (3-4) with first pitch set for 7 pm.
