Posted by clintdomingue on May 17, 2016 in Latest News

The LSU Tigers continued rolling on Tuesday night with a convincing 7-2 victory over Northwestern State (30-22).

The Tigers struck early in the bottom of the first and got three runs, highlighted by Beau Jordan hitting a single up the middle that allowed Chris Reid to reach home safely.

Northwestern State got it within one in the top of the first with a two run single by Cort Brinson.

Jake Fraley gave the Tigers a little more breathing room in the bottom of the seventh inning with a double to right field that allowed Antoine Duplantis to score.

LSU put the game away in the bottom of the eighth with a three run inning highlighted by an RBI triple to right field from Duplantis.

Jesse Stallings got the win allowing only two hits, walking one, and striking out two in two shutout innings in relief.

The Tigers (37-16) will end the regular season at the Box with a three game series against top-ranked Florida (43-9) with first pitch on Thursday set for 6:30 pm.
