After a rough outing on Friday night, the LSU Tigers took care of business on Saturday night, beating Ball State (8-8) 9-3.
The Cardinals got an early lead with Spaulding hitting a triple down the right field line in the top of the third that scored two runners.
The Tigers responded quickly in the bottom half of the inning with Antoine Duplantis hitting an RBI double to cut the deficit to 2-1.
The Tigers piled it on in the bottom of the fourth with eight runs coming off of three different pitchers.
The Cardinals tried to get back in it after the big inning from LSU and got one run off a single by Stayton, but that was all they could get the rest of the game as the Tigers held on to split the weekend series,
Alex Lange improved to 2-0 on the year, allowing three runs off of five hits and struck out five batters in six innings of work.
The Tigers (11-3) will have the rubber match on Sunday afternoon with first pitch set for noon.
