When it comes to the LSU Tigers in the world of college baseball, they are consistently towards the top of the preseason rankings. That streak continues with the SEC picking them to win the title according to the preseason poll released Thursday.
LSU was the coaches preseason choice to win the SEC West while the Florida Gators were tabbed to win the East. LSU is coming off of a great 2016 season that saw the Tigers finish on a strong note winning eleven straight games in the final month of the season to help secure a national seed in the postseason.
This wasn’t the only honor that the Tigers received. Five players were named to the All-SEC team. Cole Freeman and Lafayette native Antoine Duplantis were the Tigers named to the first team while Kramer Robertson, Greg Deichmann, and Alex Lange were named to the second team.
The 2017 season starts for the Tigers on February 17th when they take on Air Force at Alex Box Stadium with first pitch scheduled for 7 pm.
