McNeese Holds Off Every Rally By LSU

Nearly every time the LSU Tigers (9-4) were able to get some kind of a rally. McNeese State (9-4) was able to cut it off at the pass on Wednesday night.

The Cowboys got out in front with an RBI double from Gallier in the bottom of the first. The Tigers responded with an RBI single from Beau Jordan to tie things up in the top of the second.

McNeese responded with a solo shot from Rogers to take the lead back, but Josh Smith would tie things up again in the third inning with an RBI single.

The game of make it-take it continued in the bottom of the third with an RBI single from Fisbeck to give McNeese State the lead. It took a while for LSU to respond, but were able to with Jake Slaughter hitting a grounder in the top of the seventh to score Antoine Duplantis.

In the bottom half of the inning, the story continued to be back and forth with a sac bunt from Gallier to take back the lead. The Cowboys would get an insurance run that turned out to be the deciding factor with a solo shot to left field from Rogers.

Todd Peterson was credited with the loss allowing one run off of one hit in one-third of an inning of work.

LSU will return to action on Friday when they host Wichita State (8-3) in a three game series with first pitch set for 7 pm.
