Mock drafts for the 2024 NFL Draft are running wild and what better time than now to join in on the fun? The combine has concluded and rumors are flying. Here’s where I have some of the top prospects landing in this year’s draft:
- Chicago Bears – Caleb Williams – QB – USC
Williams has been the number one quarterback prospect since he won the Heisman two seasons ago. He’ll go number one whether Chicago has the pick or not. - Washington Commanders – Jayden Daniels – QB – LSU
To me, Daniels is a better prospect than Maye and would fit better in the Kliff Kingsbury system. - New England Patriots – Drake Maye – QB – North Carolina
As free agency unfolds, I could flip back and forth between what the Patriots will do with this pick. For now, I’ve got Maye being Mac Jones’ successor. - Arizona Cardinals – Marvin Harrison Jr. – WR – Ohio St.
Reports have come out that Arizona is open to trading this pick. They seem unlikely to do so because they need to upgrade the receiver position and Marvin Harrison Jr. should do just the trick. - Los Angeles Chargers – Brock Bowers – TE – Georgia
Brock Bowers is talented and reminds me of Kyle Pitts from a couple of drafts ago and the Falcons tight end taken with the fourth overall pick. Bowers in the fifth spot isn’t the craziest idea I’ve come up with. - New York Giants – Malik Nabers – WR – LSU
The Giants need to give Daniel Jones as many weapons as possible. Their offensive line isn’t good but they’ve been taking a bunch of linemen recently and have a history of taking LSU players. - Tennessee Titans – Joe Alt – OT – Notre Dame
Tennessee could always use another receiver but now that Taylor Lewan is retired, it doesn’t hurt to take the top offensive lineman prospect in this year’s draft to be his replacement. - Atlanta Falcons – Dallas Turner – EDGE – Alabama
Turner’s draft stock has risen with his performance at the combine. The Falcons have a prime opportunity to draft one of the best edge rushers in the class. - Chicago Bears – Byron Murphy II – DL – Texas
It’s not the sexy edge rusher pick or receiver pick that fans want but the Bears need help in the interior of the defensive line to help slow down the run. - New York Jets – Taliese Fuaga – OT – Oregon St.
The Jets let go of their offensive tackle before the off-season. Rodgers needs help on the offensive line. - Minnesota Vikings – J.J. McCarthy – QB – Michigan
There’s a lot in limbo about whether Kirk Cousins returns to Minnesota. Rumors lean to him leaving so I have the Vikings taking a quarterback. - Denver Broncos – Michael Penix Jr. – QB – Washington
The Broncos don’t have much money to work with to sign free agents if they were to sign a veteran QB. Drafting one as well will help. - Las Vegas Raiders – Quinyon Mitchell – CB – Toldeo
Vegas has struggled in the recent drafts to select good defensive backs but you have to hit on one of them eventually, right? - New Orleans Saints – Troy Fautanu – OT – Washington
With Klint Kubiak taking over the offensive coordinator position, getting a lineman that matches the scheme would help. - Indianapolis Colts – Cooper DeJean – CB – Iowa
Indy’s cornerback room is pretty bare. They need help and youth at the position if they want to slow down the Texans. - Seattle Seahawks – Jared Verse – EDGE – Florida St.
It’s never a bad thing if one of the top edge rushers falls to you in the middle of the first round. Verse would help upgrade Seattle’s line to complete in the NFC West. - Jacksonville Jaguars – Rome Odunze – WR – Washington
Since Calvin Ridley is looking for a new team, getting a new and younger X receiver would make Trevor Lawrence happy. - Cincinnati Bengals – Olumuyiwa Fashanu – OT – Penn St.
Jonah Williams never really worked out for the Bengals. It’s time to move on and try again to secure those edges and protect Joe Burrow from another serious injury. - Los Angeles Rams – JC Latham – OT – Alabama
The Rams extended Kevin Dotson but still need to work on their offensive line. It feels like forever since they’ve had a first-round pick. - Pittsburgh Steelers – Nate Wiggins – CB – Clemson
Oddly enough, the Steelers have gone offense with their first-round picks. Not this time since they should work on their secondary a little bit more. - Miami Dolphins – Laiatu Latu – EDGE – UCLA
Christian Wilkins and others likely hitting free agency and Jaelen Phillips is still recovering from an ACL tear. Laiatu Latu would give Miami another much-needed pass rusher. - Philadelphia Eagles – Brian Thomas Jr. – WR – LSU
Philly looks to be running more three-receiver sets in this new system. Brian Thomas would be a great addition and another option on the outside for Jalen Hurts. - Houston Texans – Chop Robinson – EDGE – Penn St.
Chop rose draft boards and with his 40-yard dash time at the Combine. Going to Houston would create a lot of havoc for opposing QBs with Will Anderson on the other side. - Dallas Cowboys – Terrion Arnold – CB – Alabama
Dallas had a superb defense for the majority of last season. The issue is Stephon Gilmore isn’t getting any younger and Trevon Diggs is recovering from a torn ACL. - Green Bay Packers – Amarius Mims – OT – Georgia
Green Bay almost always goes defense in the first round but this might be the draft that selects David Bahktiari’s replacement. You want to make sure Jordan Love stays upright. - Tampa Bay Buccaneers – Kool-Aid McKinstry – CB – Alabama
Tampa has moved on from Shaq Barrett and will likely be in the market for a new edge rusher. I however have them taking a Kool-Aid since I expect Joe-Tryon Shoyinka to be one of the main pass rushers for the Bucs and they could use some extra help in the back end. - Arizona Cardinals – Jer’Zhan Newton – DL – Illinois
Wide receiver has been taken care of. Now it’s time to address the defense and beef up the defensive line with Newton who had 7.5 sacks last year. - Buffalo Bills – Tyler Nubin – S – Minnesota
Who didn’t the Bills move on from over the last couple of days? Might as well reset that secondary a little bit and have less on the books. - Detroit Lions – Kris Jenkins – DL – Michigan
With how good Michigan was last season, it almost feels criminal to only have two Wolverines get drafted in the first round. - Baltimore Ravens – Edgerrin Cooper – LB – Texas A&M
Roquan Smith is locked up but Patrick Queen may be on the move. Cooper is a threat that could fill in nicely for this Ravens defense. - San Francisco 49ers – Jordan Morgan – OT – Arizona
The Niners could use a new tackle that’s on the cheap. Morgan could replace Colton McKivitz in the near future. - Kansas City Chiefs – Adonai Mitchell – WR – Texas
It feels like a corner would make sense here since L’Jarius Sneed has all but left Kansas City. It just seems that Mitchell will get drafted in the first round and Patrick Mahomes would welcome this pick.
