It wasn’t pretty, but the Louisiana Ragin Cajuns (8-8, 3-1 Sun Belt) were able to come away with a 59-55 win over Coastal Carolina (8-7, 2-2 Sun Belt) thanks to 15 points off of turnovers.

It was a slow start for the Cajuns as they allowed the Chanticleers to go up by five with 4:14 left. They did finish strong though with Malachi Williams giving the Cajuns a 13-11 lead off of a pair of free throws.

The second quarter saw Louisiana come out of the gates strong with a 10-2 run. They didn’t let up the rest of the way and took a 34-27 lead into the locker room.

The second half was much of the same with the Cajuns beginning to pull away in the third quarter, getting out to as much as a 15-point lead headed into the fourth quarter. However, the Cajuns shooting went cold in the fourth quarter and the Chanticleers took full advantage of it. However, Troi Swain was able to lock down Garry Brodhead’s 100th career win after making one of her two free throws with eight seconds left on the clock.

The Cajuns will return to action on January 13th when they take on the UL Monroe Warhawks with tipoff set for 4 pm.
