RAGIN CAJUNS GAMER: Horned Frogs Take Down Cajuns 13-4

After a great performance on Friday night, the Louisiana Ragin Cajuns were brought back down to Earth after a lopsided 13-4 loss to TCU marred by two four-run innings late in the ballgame.

How It Happened:

The Horned Frogs fired out of the gates fast, capitalizing off of an error by Sam Riola that allowed Porter Brown to make it home safely. Conner Shepherd extended the lead later in the inning with a two-out RBI single to bring Zach Humphreys.

The Cajuns finally got on the board in the fourth with an RBI single by Drake Osborn, which was the team’s first hit of the afternoon. TCU extended their lead once again in the sixth with Brayden Taylor drilling a home run out to right field to make it 4-1. Gene Wood followed that up later in the inning with a two-out two-run triple to make it a 6-1 ballgame.

Things started to fall apart in the seventh for Louisiana with Wood hitting a two-run single to score Shepherd and Humphreys. Humphreys put three more runs across in the eighth with a three-run blast to left field. The Cajuns were able to get three more runs across with a three-run homer from Nick Hagedorn, but the deficit was too big to overcome.

Big Number: 14

The Cajuns offense went offline for much of Saturday’s contest with 14 total strikeouts. For a team that has been consistent at the dish throughout the early part of this season, it was disappointing to see, especially with Tyler Robertson having a rare 0-for-4 game with three strikeouts..

Player of the Game: Gene Wood

TCU’s starting first baseman was a big part of the late-inning outbursts with four RBIs, including a three-run home run in the seventh.
