The Louisiana Ragin Cajuns (14-9) have started to turn the corner when it comes to hitting. While the Cajuns only had five hits, they made each of them count as they took down McNeese State (18-7) by the score of 3-1.
Tyler Stover carried the momentum built off of his performance last weekend against Troy into a start in the midweek matchup and proved why he earned it in the top of the second with a two-run blast to left field to take an early lead.
The Cowboys did respond with a run scored off a groundout from Will Fox that sent Shane Selman across home plate easily.
The score remained the same until the 7th inning when Handsome Monica drilled one to left field to get their led back to two runs.
Jack Burk improved to 1-3 on the season allowing only two hits, one run, walked two, and struck out two in six innings of work. Dylan Moore got his sixth save with one inning of work, striking out two batters and walking one.
The Cajuns will finish what would’ve been their season opener on Wednesday at 5 pm against Southeastern (14-9).The Cajuns will face off against the Lions again 30 minutes after the first game has been completed.
