Super Bowl weekend is one of the biggest in the world of sports, and $16 billion is estimated to be wagered on the big game. So let’s look at our best bets for the weekend:
LSU vs Texas A&M
Matt: Texas A&M -7.5 (-102)
LSU hasn’t had a game be closer than the spread of 6.5 since the losing streak started against Kentucky on January 3rd. I think the Aggies give LSU a dozen straight losses in this one.
James: Texas A&M ML (-295)
The Tigers are on an 11-game losing streak. Their offense continues to struggle even tho the defense tries to keep them in games.
Pelicans vs Thunder
Matt: Pelicans ML
The Pelicans have struggled to find wins recently outside of the short win streak they went on, and they’ll be looking to go into the All-Star break with some momentum. Look for the Pels to play really well in this one.
James: Shai Gilgeous-Alexander 20+ points
The last time Shai scored under 20 points in a game was last year. The kid has been nuclear in 2023 and will do more of the same against a Pelicans defense, that has looked lackluster at times this season.
Louisiana vs Troy
Matt: Louisiana ML (-128)
The Cajuns slipped up on the road Thursday and lost their grip on first place in the conference. Now, they’ll be looking to get it back by taking down a Troy team that they handled in the Cajundome without Jordan Brown.
James: Louisiana -2.5 (-102)
The Cajuns fell to the Golden Eagles Thursday night and are now second in the Sun Belt. With the pressure of maintaining the win streak off of their backs, they can focus on the game and beat Troy on their home floor.
Super Bowl 57 Bets
Matt: Travis Kelce Anytime TD (-125) and Jalen Hurts 25+ yards rushing in each half (+300)
Travis Kelce is going to be the #1 target of Patrick Mahomes in this game, especially in the red zone. As for Hurts, his shoulder still isn’t 100%, so I wouldn’t be surprised if he tucks the ball more than normal and picks up a bunch of yards on the ground.
James: Patrick Mahomes 225+ passing yards (-650) and AJ Brown anytime TD (+120)
Kansas City has a weaker secondary than what Brown had to face versus the 49ers. Devonta Smith and Dallas Goedert have gotten the bulk of the catches in the playoffs. This seems like the game Brown would go off in. In conjunction with that, the Chiefs will likely be down for most of this game, so Mahomes will need to throw the ball a lot if they want to make an epic comeback.
