SAINTS GAMER: Bridgewater’s 4 TDs Propel Team to 31-24 Win Over Tampa Bay

After the New Orleans Saints (4-1) offense failed to find the endzone for the first time since the 1998 season last Sunday against the Dallas Cowboys, Teddy Bridgewater flipped the script with a four-touchdown performance, resulting in a 31-24 victory against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2-2).

How It Happened

After exchanging punts for much of the first quarter, Wil Lutz picked up where he left off last weekend, getting the Saints on the board with a 29-yard field goal. However, the lead wouldn’t last long after Deonte Harris fumbled a punt return, giving the Buccaneers a short field to work with, resulting in a 26-yard touchdown pass to Chris Godwin.

The Saints responded though with a nine-play drive early in the second quarter that saw Bridgewater find Michael Thomas for a 14-yard touchdown to take back control of the ballgame. After a 42-yard field goal from Matt Gay tied things up, Bridgewater put together a great drive to end the first half that ended with a touchdown pass to Jared Cook to give New Orleans a 17-10 lead as both teams headed to the locker room.

The second half started off with a quick drive down the field that was capped off by a wide-open pass to Ted Ginn, making it 24-10.

Peyton Barber chipped away at the Saints lead later in the third quarter with a two-yard run, but Bridgewater was able to find Thomas once again early in the fourth quarter and that sealed the deal for the Saints.

Big Number: 182

Michael Thomas was all over the place in Sunday’s victory over the Bucs and his 182 yards and two touchdowns definitely made fantasy football owners jump for joy.

Player of the Game: Teddy Bridgewater

Teddy Two-Gloves earned a lot of love from the Saints fanbase with his performance. Throwing for 314 yards and four touchdowns had Who Dat Nation chanting “Teddy! Teddy! Teddy!” and every bit of it was deserved.
