Six former members of the Louisiana Ragin Cajuns football team have now earned the opportunity to make an NFL roster, signing undrafted free agent deals.
Quarterback Ben Wooldridge signed with the New England Patriots, linebacker K.C. Ossai signed with his hometown Houston Texans, offensive lineman AJ Gille signed with the Seattle Seahawks, defensive lineman Mason Narcisse signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and both safety Tyrone Lewis Jr and wide receiver Dalen Cambre signed with the New York Giants.
Wooldridge battled through several season-ending injuries during his time with the Cajuns, but 2024 was a special year for him as he was named the Sun Belt Conference Offensive Player of the Year. He completed 73% of his passes for 2,453 yards, 17 touchdowns, and only six interceptions while leading the Vermilion and White to their fifth appearance in the Sun Belt Conference Championship Game.
Ossai was the defensive leader for Louisiana during the 2023 and 2024 seasons, racking up 278 total tackles in his career (115 in 2024). He finished with nine tackles for a loss and one interception, but more than the stats, Ossai stood out on the field in the way he was able to lead the defense.
Gillie was a multi-time All-Sun Belt honoree at the offensive guard position, continuing the excellence that the Louisiana program has set with offensive lineman over the years, including Kevin Dotson, Robert Hunt, Max Mitchell, Nathan Thomas, and now Gillie all making it to the NFL since 2018. Gillie was a First-Team All Sun-Belt selection in 2024.
Narcisse was a menace up front during his time in Cajun Country, as the Reserve native will now compete in the same division as the New Orleans Saints. For his career, Narcisse appeared in 62 games and had 130 total tackles from the nose tackle position. In 2024, he racked up 3.5 sacks.
Lewis was a very productive safety during his time with the Cajuns after transferring in from Kansas State. The Hammond native played 46 games in Vermilion and White, finishing with 182 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, and seven interceptions.
Cambre, a Lafayette native, spent most of his career as a special-teams expert for the Cajuns. During his time, he caught 10 passes for 123 yards on offense, had nine tackles on defense, and had a blocked punt and kick return touchdown on special teams. He went on to wow at his pro day, receiving a Relative Athletic Score (RAS) of 9.18 with an elite speed rating. He will look to use that speed to his advantage as an offensive weapon and special-teams player for the Giants.
