Cajuns softball receiving honors by the Sun Belt Conference feels like an inevitability at this point and for the fourth time this season, Summer Ellyson earned Pitcher of the Week honors on Tuesday after an outstanding weekend.
The junior earned three wins and a save in four appearances last week and that was highlighted by a complete-game shutout on Saturday against UT Arlington. In 22 innings of work in the circle, Ellyson allowed only one run and struck out 28 batters last week and that included a 52-pitch effort on the road against McNeese State.
Ellyson’s four selections are the most for a Cajun since Jordan Wallace in the 2013 season.
The Cajuns will return to action on Wednesday when they face off with Southeastern Louisiana with first pitch at 6 pm.
