It seemed surprising for some Cajun softball fans that Summer Ellyson, who racked up 20 strikeouts on opening weekend, wasn’t named Sun Belt Conference Pitcher of the Week last Tuesday.
The Sun Belt Conference gave her the honors Tuesday afternoon after putting together a great performance in her starts against Oregon State and Florida. Her highlight of the weekend was her 11-inning performance in a 4-3 win over the Gators on Sunday.
The sophomore joins Kylee Jo Trahan as the winners of the Sun Belt Conference Pitcher of theWeek this season. The Cajuns will open up the Louisiana Classics on Thursday when they take on Southeastern Louisiana with first pitch set for 4 pm.
