After the top of the ninth, it seemed like the LSU Tigers (24-14) were about to come away with another comeback victory on Wednesday night However, Tulane (17-21) was able to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat, coming away with a 10-9 win to split the midweek series.
How It Happened
After being down 7-3 after six innings, Antoine Duplantis started to get the Tigers closer with an RBI single through the right side in the top of the seventh. Jake Slaughter got LSU within one run of tying things up in the eighth with an RBI triple followed by reaching home safely off of a wild pitch.
LSU made it a 9-7 ballgame in the top of the ninth with a three-run inning capped off by an RBI single from Nick Coomes. It seemed like the Tigers were going to get out of Turchin Stadium with a win, but it wasn’t that easy as Grant Witherspoon opened up the bottom frame with a solo shot to right field to make it 9-8. Kody Hoese tied things up with an RBI double to center field later in the inning and after a pair of intentional walks, Matthew Beck threw a four-pitch walk to pinch hitter Luke Glancy to give the Green Wave a 10-9 victory.
Beck dropped to 1-1 on the year allowing one run off of one hit and waked three in a third of an inning.

LSU gave Tulane way too many free bases with seven walks on the evening, with four of them coming in the bottom of the 9th. After the game, Paul Mainieri put the blame on himself for the loss considering all that had happened in that bottom frame.
Player of the Game: Nick Coomes
The Tigers left fielder had an outstanding ballgame, going four-of-five with two doubles and an RBI. Pretty solid line in a loss.
