Aliaksei Shostak moved to the United States when he was a child. He grew up in Lafayette, Louisiana and got a political science degree at UL.
This summer, he is representing Team USA at the Paris Olympics.
On Friday, he competed in the qualification round of the Trampoline Gymnastics event. In his first exercise, he received a 17.2 in Difficulty, a 14.5 in Execution, a 16.55 in Time of Flight, and a 9.1 in Horizontal Displacement for a total score of 57.35. That placed him 10th out of 16 competitors. However, only the top eight move onto the Final.
That meant Shostak needed to improve his score in his second and final exercise.
Unfortunately, Shostak got off to a rough start and his second routine ended early. He scored just a 6.12, which meant he had to keep his first-round score. He did not move onto the Final but finished in 10th with a score of 57.35.
