The powerful bats for the Louisiana Ragin Cajuns (13-4) seem to be a fact of life as each weekend passes. The first day of the Ragin Cajuns invitational reiterated that point with a pair of wins over Alcorn State and North Dakota State.
The Cajuns started things off with Kara Gremillion scoring off of a wild pitch followed by a solo shot from DJ Sanders to take an early 1-0 lead.
After another run came across in the second, they began to pour it on in the bottom of the third with three runs highlighted by an RBI single by Daniella Chavez.
The final nail would be put in Alcorn State with a pair of homers from Sanders and Chavez in the bottom of the fourth before the run rule was enforced after five innings.
The second game was a little more competitive, but started about the same way with a home run this time from Kara Gremillion in the top of the 1st.
Their lead would continue to increase with four runs coming in the third inning with Haley Hayden starting things off with a two-run double to left center field. North Dakota State would finally get on the board with an RBI single to center field from Tabby Heinz.
Lexie Comeaux would extend their lead in the top of the fifth with a solo shot to center field and it would become all Cajuns the rest of the way.
The Cajuns will continue the weekend with a pair of games against North Dakota State and Texas A&M Corpus Christi.
