Sundays are pretty tough according to head coach Michael Lotief. “Those are the days when you have to show up and be locked in. Sundays have to be your very best.”
The Louisana Ragin Cajuns (29-5, 12-0 Sun Belt) certainly looked locked in when they completed the sweep against Troy (16-25, 4-12 Sun Belt) with an 11-0 victory in five innings.
Aleah Craighton got things done in the first with a three-run blast to put the Cajuns on the board. That was her third in the series and 10th on the season.
Daniella Chavez hit one off the wall in the third to score three runs to make it 6-0. Later in the inning, Corin Voinche increased the lead with an RBI double.
The game was put away when DJ Sanders hit her 19th home run of the season which set a career high for her. But it’s not all about the numbers, she’s improved in all facets.
“DJ is continuing to grow.” Lotief said after the game, “It’s not only the home run numbers, it’s what she’s doing on defense, her maturity and leadership throughout the team. It’s not just the numbers, she’s the total package.”
Alex Stewart improved to 14-3 allowing one hit in four innings of work and struck out seven.
The Cajuns will travel up to San Marcos to take on Texas State with first pitch in game one set for 2 pm.
