Ragin Cajuns Win Second Straight Sun Belt Conference Tourney

Posted by clintdomingue on May 13, 2017 in Latest News

Lamson Park

The Louisiana Ragin Cajuns only suffered one loss in conference play this season against Texas State. After Saturday’s tournament final, it’s safe to say they avenged that loss with a 12-0 win in five innings to give the Cajuns their second straight Sun Belt Conference Tournament title.

Lexie Comeaux wasted no time getting the Cajuns on the board with an RBI single in the bottom of the first, but they weren’t done in the inning as they put up four more runs to get out to an early 5-0 lead.

The big story for the Cajuns all season was DJ Sanders ability to knock it out of the park. She didn’t need to on Saturday when she capped off a six run inning in the third with a three-run double.

Alex Stewart got her 25th win of the season allowing two hits, walked two and struck out three in four innings of work. Her overall performance throughout the tournament earned her the Most Outstanding Player award.

The Cajuns will now wait to find out who they will be paired off with in the postseason. The selection show will occur at 9 pm on Sunday.
